AeroTex UK has been delivering niche services and solutions to the aerospace industry for over 20 years. Combining a deep knowledge of aircraft icing, mathematical modelling, aeroelastics and vibration, with our in-house validated codes, we provide end-to-end solutions for our customers, from fundamental research to certification.

In-house Icing Analysis & IPS Design Suite

AeroTex produces a unique suite of validated icing design and analysis tools deployed on contracts and available for licensing.

Icing Design & Analysis Services

AeroTex provides a range of icing analysis, design and test services drawing on our extensive experience, from fundamental ice physics to aircraft certification support.

Icing Wind Tunnel Test Management and ETIPS Controller Provision

AeroTex has tested in most of the major icing wind tunnels, managing the whole process from planning through to reporting.

AIP3 – In-Flight Ice Detection

AeroTex has developed the Atmospheric Icing Product (AIP3), providing Liquid Water Content/Severity and differentiating SLD conditions

Icing Certification

AeroTex support customers in defining, managing and delivering certification of their products, from components to whole airframes.

Mathematical Modelling

AeroTex UK have significant experience in the modelling and analysis of complex structures and loading conditions, using both commercial codes such as Nastran and LS-Dyna through to bespoke, in-house produced, FE analysis tools. Working with aircraft primes, research organisations and under collaborative research programmes,
AeroTex develops complex and innovative models to address your specific fluid-structure-interaction problems.

Structural Dynamics

AeroTex has a wealth of experience applying structural dynamics to vibration issues across the disciplines. Example projects range from rotor blades, whole helicopters and air ambulance equipment to wind tunnel apparatus.

Training Courses

AeroTex provides a range of courses ranging from an introduction to icing, through to bespoke short courses focused on particular customer requirements.

Our Team

With a wealth of expertise at their finger tips, the team at AeroTex are always ready to discuss your next project.

Dr Ian Roberts

Team Leader

Ian has over 20 years of experience in the field of aeroelastics, structural dynamics, aircraft icing and mathematical methods. Prior to joining AeroTex in 2011 he worked at both BAE Systems and QinetiQ. Since then, he has become a respected figure in the field of aircraft icing, developing codes, leading research programs, acting as trials manager in some of the world’s major icing test facilities and supporting the certification process.

Colin Hatch

Consultant

Colin has worked in the field of structural dynamics, vibration and dynamic testing for over 35 years, mostly as an employee of QinetiQ/DERA/DRA/RAE, but has been with AeroTex since April 2010. He has been involved with modelling and testing a wide range of items from satellite structures, avionics systems, full aircraft, scaffolding structures, hand tools and composite rotor blades, and is recognised and well respected within the rotorcraft community.

Dr Jon Connolly

Consultant

Jon joined AeroTex in 2024 with an MEng degree in Engineering Science, MRes in Gas Turbine Aerodynamics, a PhD from the Oxford Thermofluids Institute in commercial gas turbine engine compressor ice-crystal icing and several years experience interacting with Rolls Royce as a PDRA and a senior research engineer in the ice protection division at GKN Aerospace.

Richard Moser

Consultant

Richard has been involved in aircraft icing for over 20 years producing codes, aiding design and, acting as trials manager in some of the world’s major icing test facilities. Recognised internationally within the aircraft icing world, he has organised and chaired sessions for both AIAA and SAE conferences.
