
AeroTex UK is constantly working with academic and industrial partners across the aerospace and wind power sector to improve methods and technologies in the icing field. A few of our latest activities are listed below:

Congratulations to Pau for completing his PhD as part of the SurfICE program
Earlier this year, following three years of Marie Curie funding, under joint supervision from AeroTex UK and Valérie Pommier-Budinger from ISAE-SUPAERO Pau completed his PhD looking into predictive ice failure.

GLACIER
In December 2025 AeroTex started a 30-month research project focused on delivering a revolutionary low-power ice protection system that fuses novel heater configurations with the our in-house AIP3 ice detection system. This work is performed in collaboration with Cranfield University and has received funded through the Aerospace Technology Institute/Innovate UK SME programme.

Atmospheric Icing Product (AIP3)
AeroTex continue to develop our in-flight ice detection system, the Atmospheric Icing Product or AIP3.
The system has demonstrated that it has the capability to; detect icing, determine the icing severity and differentiate between conventional small droplet icing and Supercooled Large Droplets (SLDs) whilst drawing low power input and we are continuing its development towards a marketable product
